It's Deer Season!

Here is my good looking husband.
He looks ready.
Ready to snatch my camera.
Ready to kill something with antlers.
And I am ready to cook it with this marinade.

THE Best Venison Marinade

1 1/2 C. oil (any kind, i use canola)
1/3 C. Vinegar
2 T. Dry Mustard
3/4 C. Soy Sauce
1/2 C. Worcestershire
1 T pepper
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. parsley
1/3 C. lemon juice
1 tsp. garlic powder (i use fresh garlic)

In a medium bowl, first add the oil. Second, slowly whisk in the vinegar to the oil. Add the mustard to the oil and vinegar and mix really well. Add remaining ingredients.

I wish I could give credit to whoever came up with this recipe. I got it from a friend who got it from a friend. So, if it is in a cookbook you own, let me know! I have also used this recipe for a pork tenderloin. I marinate it overnight and cook it with the marinade on 220 for 3 hours. Talk about delicious!

I finally finished my headboards after one year.
I guess you could say I am a procrastinator.

She is Far More Precious Than Jewels

These are two of the wisest women I have ever known. My Mawaw is on the left, and Allan's grandmother is on the right. They became friends at our wedding. Mom, Mrs. Jamie, and I decided it was finally time to get these friends together. We took them to the Delta Bistro for lunch. I picked up Grandmama from Carrollton, Mississippi. She had been looking forward to this day for at least a year. Let me just say.............we had the time of our lives! We ordered yummy food, drank sweet tea, and laughed.

I have learned many things from Mamaw and Grandmama. My Mamaw has taught me more about marriage than she will ever know. Her patience, kindness, and serving spirit has taught me so much. She has taught me what it means to love Jesus and serve him. I just LOVE her. Mamaw has taught me how to cook a whole chicken. She has showed me how to serve a family. She has shown me what it means to rest. She has the best sense of humor. She is a more beautiful bride to Papaw now than she was 64 years ago. I am grateful for her and I cannot express my thankfulness in these words. She is far more precious than jewels. Grandmama has shown me what it means to be filled with Holy Spirit. She loves and adores her Savior, Jesus Christ. She is so much FUN to hang out with. She beams ear to ear when she sees any of her grandchildren. She would give anything to her children or grandchildren if they were in need. I have known her for five years now, I love her, and she is far more precious than jewels.The reason the pictures are so small is because i accidentally deleted all of Mrs. Jamie's photos from 2009. YES. I. DID.................I am currently on a mission to replace them. Thankfully, she had printed the very important ones. These are the only pictures that were saved. I cannot imagine not having these pictures. I pray that we will have another day like this again............ Thanks Mom and Mrs. Jamie for making it so special.

Proverbs 31
The Woman Who Fears the LORD
10 An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.
11The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
12She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.
13She seeks wool and flax,
and works with willing hands.
14She is like the ships of the merchant;
she brings her food from afar.
15She rises while it is yet night
and provides food for her household
and portions for her maidens.
16She considers a field and buys it;
with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
17She dresses herself with strength
and makes her arms strong.
18She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.
Her lamp does not go out at night.
19She puts her hands to the distaff,
and her hands hold the spindle.
20She opens her hand to the poor
and reaches out her hands to the needy.
21She is not afraid of snow for her household,
for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
22She makes bed coverings for herself;
her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23Her husband is known in the gates
when he sits among the elders of the land.
24She makes linen garments and sells them;
she delivers sashes to the merchant.
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
26She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29"Many women have done excellently,
but you surpass them all."
30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
31Give her of the fruit of her hands,
and let her works praise her in the gates.

May I suggest that we have a lot to learn from this passage in Scripture? Though we do not see it in the passage, this woman was a sinner who failed. She seems like she has it all together, doesn't she? The bible teaches that nobody has it together. We are all a big mess. Thankfully, this woman was loved by a God who gives grace. I fall short...daily. The good news is that i do have a King who did live perfectly for me. Jesus did not fail. I can begin to learn from the Proverbs 31 woman when I see that Jesus took my failings and shortcomings as a wife, daughter, sister, and friend and died for me so that i could live as a wife, daughter, sister, and friend......

The. gospel. is. the. GOOD. NEWS...................... :)

My favorite time of the year is FALL. This means that Allan and I will be eating the majority of our meals on the balcony! I am ready for the rain to leave and the trees to change colors! We can leave the doors open and get a really nice breeze in our apartment! Allan and I cooked out tonight. Or should i say, Allan cooked! I know nothing about grilling. He is the expert. We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the balcony.
Where has September gone? I am really enjoying my internship. I love the graduate course I am taking (Sports Nutrition) and so far the semester is going great! We have had our first home football game and it was fun. We have a tailgate with some of our friends from the church and it has been a blast. Anyone is welcome to come to our tailgate....anytime!! I really miss my friends who have moved to various cities in the US. I know they are keeping up with the beloved Bulldogs.
This is my last week at Oktibbeha County Hospital. I am very sad to leave this rotation. I have loved it! I am super excited about the next rotations. See ya!

Door Project Update

Well, I am sad to say that I didn't finish the doors in three days. (Sigh...........) But, I did work all day yesterday! I did all that I could at our apartment. Lewis Buford is possibly going to cut the door for me on Friday and we are going to add some molding to finish it off. YA! So, hopefully I will have pictures of that this week. I cleaned off the balcony and stacked the doors out of the way. I will expand this challenge to three weeks. :)
Allan and I had a nice date last night. We ordered Stromboli's to go and rented a movie! This week is going to be very busy with the internship/school. That's all for now. Enjoy your restful Sunday afternoon!!

Three Day Door Challenge

Well, I have officially started my three day headboard challenge. As most of you know, this is been an ongoing and procrastinating project of mine. I decided to challenge myself to finish our headboard in three days. WOO HOO!!! I worked for several hours today and I got so much done!! I love these doors because the Bledsoe's gave them to us from the farm. I just cherish those kinds of things! One of my favorite things in our home is a window/mirror that Julia gave me. Thanks Julia! Anyway, here are some of my project pictures. I am sure the neighbors loved me today. It was a Friday afternoon and I was using an electric sander. (Thanks Mrs. Jamie!!) Also, it started storming. I am sure several students were taking naps. Oops! Oh and I should add that these doors probably have lead paint on them. They are ancient. Hopefully no one will get sick. I even swept all of their balconies due to the paint particles. Anyway. Here are some pictures!
